Food & Drink Measurement

Food and beverage manufacturing facilities have requirements for flow measurement at almost every stage of the production process.  Storage, pumping, and dosing of ingredients are fundamental activities in food and beverage production and require accurate flow measurement to assure product quality and consistency.  Water is widely monitored in its various roles for washing, as steam for heating and as a coolant.  Flows of fuels such as gas and oil are typically measured as part of process monitoring and control.

Flow measurement is an important aspect of many operations in the water industry. Abstraction of water from rivers, dosing during purification, metering into supply, metering to customers and discharges of waste water back into rivers all require metering.  The reasons vary (quality control, revenue, environmental regulation ), the required precision may vary (<1% for quality, up to 10% for environmental regulation) but the need for a proper understanding of the metering process remains central to the efficient provision of clean water and the safe disposal of waste.
