features of glass tube flowmeter
Flow meter has a lot of advantages. Features can be classified into:
(1) A glass tube rotameter is a relatively simple and cost-effective device, allowing for widespread use.
The simplest flow meter is made of floater and taper tube. In some situation, no maintenance is permissible.
(2)It can be used for low Reynolds number. It's rotameter which has the capacity to test the low Reynolds number among various flow meters.As report goes, when choosing not sensitive viscosity floater, flow coefficient influenced by Reynolds number doesn’t change much if the Reynolds number is more than 100.
Fluid viscosity also has no effects on the flow coefficient.
(3) Glass tube flow meter is suitable for small diameter and low flow rate. The minimum diameter can reach (1.5~2)mm.
Take fluid for example, diameter smaller than 10 mm, flow rate of full measurement is (0.2~0.6)m/s, even to 0.1 m/s. Diameter bigger than 15 mm, the flow rate is relatively faster, between (0.5~1.5)m/s.
(4)Low pressure loss. The pressure loss of rotameter can be controlled or designed. The major means is to control the
quality of floater. Glass tube flow meter of DN15~DN100, the pressure loss is less than 3kPa in general. Small
diameter, the pressure loss can decrease to 5pa which is almost ignored.
(5)Low requests on the upstream straight length tube.
(6)Offer a wide range of flow area. The measuring area of flow meter is usually 10:1. If there is any special request,
structure of floater can be changed, say double floater structure with measuring area 50:1, or even bigger.
